U-Ness & JedSet "The Exception To The Rule" (SoulHeat Records)
SoulHeat's front men have been making waves for a couple of years now, and it’s not difficult to hear why with remixes for Pacha Recordings or Atlantic Records and licenses for their Ibiza compilations from the ones like R Kelly, Maurice Joshua, Bob Marley, MK, Carl Cox, Basement Jaxx, Frankie Knuckles, Nightcrawlers, Clean Bandit and Gorgon City to name but a few. If you’re a fan of soulful grooves, crackling synths or generally good music, you probably knew that already.
“The Exception To The Rule” album manages to go that one step further and gather quality and production under the same roof. Singles like "Feels Like" "We R 1" or "Rise" are good examples of this: they set the mood of the whole album as the duo combines summery grooves with laidback beats. The fact that there are 16 songs on this record means that the level of dynamism and interest of the duo is intact.
The album carries on where recent releases left off: a series of classy house beats, summery textures, lascivious vocals and a crispy quality production that brings the whole house/deep-house bandwagon exercise bang up to date.
